Typically, homeowners or businesses trim their hedges every year to maintain the hedge at a certain width and height. This maintenance trimming involves cutting dead or broken branches, and then shortening healthy branches by a third or more. This allows the hedge to become denser. The top will be rounded so that ice and snow do not bend the branches. During this annual hedge trimming, it will be possible to add fertilizer (upon request).
As for reduction trimming (reduction), it is performed on hedges that have been left to themselves for a few years. These hedges must then be drastically narrowed at the top and sides to achieve the desired size and height. All dry branches are cut, and fertilizer is added to aid growth (upon request).
